Thrilled to have successfully completed another 2.5-day seminar in Bangkok for Unit 002 – Perform Classification of Hazardous Areas. This session was specifically designed for HA Designers, focusing on IEC 60079-10-1 (explosive gas), IEC 60079-10-2 (explosive dust), and the IECEx CoPC scheme for personnel competence.
Among other methodologies, the “Sources of Release” approach is often the most complex aspect of the gas atmosphere classification. According to IEC 60079-10-1, there are several formulas applicable for different forms of release. The HA Designers must evaluate numerous parameters, data, and assumptions to identify the sources of release, determine the grade of release and release rate, assess ventilation, determine the zone type, and determine the extent of the zone. We have discussed these Step-by-Step and also addressed the open/ unclear issues within the standard.
Unit 002 is essential for Process, Chemical, Safety, Mechanical, and Electrical engineers who are involved in the classification of hazardous areas.
